Living in N. Florida, we have plenty of these nasty little creatures!

I have found coffee to be the solution. I buy cheap coffee (or you can use the used grounds from your pot) and place a handful at the base of my plants, broccoli, cauliflower, corn or anything else bothered by snails/slugs.

Place the grounds on the surface, do not work into the soil. Snails will not tread on the coffee as they hate it and the worms love it! It also adds acid to the Florida garden.
